Gurney Food Hall (15 October 2020)
Gurney Food Hall is a large air-conditioned food court at
Gurney Plaza, Penang. It opened to the public on 1 October 2020, and had its official opening on 15 October. Located on Level 4 of the shopping mall, Gurney Food Hall covers 33,000 sqft (including common areas). It can accommodate 600 diners at any one time. There are six restaurants and 25 physical stalls, including 3 pre-built container and food caravan concept stalls.
The interior of Gurney Food hall is broken into four different zones namely The Pier, The Port, The Palm and The Patio. Each calls up a different theme. The Port follows a nautical theme, recalling Penang's position as a major port of all. The Palm represents Penang's natural beauty, its beach and national park. The Pier celebrates the arrival of merchants to Penang what what discoveries lay ahead for them. The Patio is a well-lit area with a generous amount of sunshine.
I was among members of local social media community who were invited to the official opening of Gurney Food Hall. It was the first time I had entered the hall, and I am impressed by the sheer variety of stalls available. I am pleased that I now have a place to go for meals, in addition to the existing restaurants.
