Lee Yet Nyonya Meatless Cuisines (2 November 2020)
Lee Yet Nyonya Meatless Cuisines (GPS: 5.43236, 100.3129) is a vegetarian restaurant in
Pulau Tikus, Penang. The restaurant opened on 1 November 2020. It occupies a 2-storey semi-detached townhouse along
Bangkok Lane. The modest sized restaurant is beautifully decorated with Straits Chinese furniture and Nyonya Porcelain from its owner's collection. Lee Yet derives its name from the portmanteau of the names of its two partners, one of whom the fashion designer Richard Rivalee.
My visits to Lee Yet Nyonya Meatless Cuisines
I visited Lee Yet Nyonya Meatless Cuisines with my friends on the 2nd day that the restaurant opened for business. As I perused the menu, I was pleasantly surprised that the prices are quite reasonable and in keeping with market level. Two of my friends ordered the Green Curry Set (RM16.90) while one of them ordered the Nyonya Curry Mee (RM8.90). I settled for Black Pepper Chicken Chop (RM16.90).
Half way through our lunch, the owner Richard Rivalee arrived, and my friend introduced everybody to him. Richard took a seat with us and we got to know him a little better.
Here I am at Lee Yet with Richard Rivalee. (2 November 2020)

The Nyonya Curry Mee arrived first, and it looked good. You could have sworn those were real
char siew!

In addition to the Nyonya Curry Mee, my friend also ordered the assorted Nyonya Kuih to share with the rest of us.

The next to arrive were the Green Curry Sets. These also look very appetizing.

As all my friends began enjoying their food, my order did not arrive. Oh, not again! This is happening quite frequently. We checked on the order, as we were in a rush, and eventually it was delivered to my table 15 minutes after my friends' orders arrived.
Black Pepper Chicken Chop at Lee Yet. (2 November 2020)

The Black Pepper Chicken Chop was excellent. You would have thought you were eating real chicken, and coming hot from the pan, it was absolutely crispy. I have no complains with regards this chicken chop, except that it took too long to arrive, something which Richard himself has apologized over, saying that the restaurant is still new and so this was one of the issues to be ironed out.
I look forward to coming back, perhaps over lunch, with my wife, as the restaurant only opens from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
