Passions of Kerala, Brown Garden, Gelugor (16 September 2020)
Passions of Kerala (GPS: 5.36769, 100.30369) is a banana leaf restaurant in the Brown Garden neighbourhood of Gelugor, Penang. It is one of the two locations for this restaurant, the other being located at New World Park.
Originally known as Inniras, the restaurant changed its name to Passions of Kerala some time back. It is renowned as one of the few places in Penang where diners can enjoy a South Indian-style meal of rice on banana leaf. The banana leaf set comes with three different vegetables as well as pappadom. These items are "bottomless" meaning you can ask for unlimited refill, but diners may not share a single set.

It has been so many years since I visited Passions of Kerala, that my wife and I decided to go there for lunch. We were happy that the restaurant was open for lunch, and were pleasantly surprised to see that over the years, it has grown to now occupy four different shoplots. They would open more space as each shoplot fills up.
We ordered two banana leaf sets with tomato rice. On top of that, we also ordered the fried brinjal (small) and fried bittergourd (small). For drinks, I had iced coffee while my wife had
teh tarik. It was a delicious, filling meal. The total cost was RM30.
