Sushi Wafu Moulmein Rise (GPS: 5.42939, 100.31233) is a Japanese restaurant in Pulau Tikus, Penang. The restaurant occupies a ground floor shoplot at the Moulmein Rise shopping mall. It has been operating here since end of 2018.

On 6 October 2020, my wife and I enjoyed the privilege a dinner here. We were here at the invitation of the restaurant which has just launched their new menu. It is so exciting to see that Japanese food is not just all sushi and sashimi.

We started our meal with the Avocado Crab Salad, which comes with large chunks of avocado. At Sushi Wafu, we can order whole meals, which can be as many as 8 different items, in addition to the main dish. We had the Seafood Pork Broth Japanese Steamboat. It was served with chawanmushi, miso soup, refillable green tea (or lemon tea), fresh orange slices, and refillable ice cream. The fact that the drinks and ice cream are refillable is a major attraction for many, and I love that too.

We also had the Teppan Butter Mushroom with Scallops. I love mushroom, so this is one of my favorite items. It has large, juicy scallops which are so tasty. And that is not all. We were also served two particularly delicious delicacies. One is the miso fried eggplant. It is simply delicious (My wife and I had eggplant done in quite a similar way when we were in Japan, and this dish brought up memories.) And finally, we had the deep-fried soft-shell crab which is also a tasty snack.

All in all, it has been a delightful meal. My wife and I enjoyed it very much, and look forward to returning.
