Bak Kut Teh at Restoran Cheng Heong (15 September 2012)
Restoran Cheng Heong was my favourite place for
Bak Kut Teh, but it is
no longer operating. The coffee shop was in
Air Itam, Penang. The bak kut teh used to be a stall at the coffee shop next door, but has since moved into its own premises. In addition to its signature bak kut teh, the restaurant also has other dishes and accompaniments, among them Eu Char Koay, Vegetable in Oil, Chicken Feet, Lemon Chicken, Homemade Tofu and Thai-style Tofu, among others.
Restoran Cheng Heong is my choice for
Best Bak Kut Teh in Penang. I like to have bak kut teh here because the taste is good while the price is moderate. My family has been coming here for bak kut teh for years, even when it was a stall next door. We used to joke that the rabbits in their old signboard look sick. Good for them that their new signboard shows more jolly looking rabbits. I haven't asked whether they have rabbit-meat bak kut teh. I don't have to know!
