I love the Christmas season. This is the time of the year when I get to try out and tell people about the glorious array of food available in many hotels in Penang. Last night, my wife and I had the wonderful opportunity to enjoy the sumptuous delights prepared by Cititel Penang.

Christmas Buffet Dinner Food Review

Upon our arrival at Cititel Penang, we were impressed by the towering Christmas tree that forms the centrepiece of the lobby.

The passageway leading towards Main Street Cafe, where the food review was being held, was decorated with Christmas decoration, giving the hotel a festive atmosphere. Upon our arrival at the cafe, we saw that several of our friends from the print and social media have already arrived, and were busy taking photos of the food. So, without further delay, we also get to work at once.

Cititel Penang has always impressed me with its amount and variety of food, and it's no different for their Christmas buffet. It was a Smörgåsbord comprising appetizers, cheese platter, seafood on ice, soups, hot dishes, roasted items and desserts - and that's just the types of food available, for within each category are lots and lots of items.

A row of tables were arranged for us, so we each took our seat. As the meal commences, in addition to the food which we selected from the buffet line, we were also served slipper lobster thermidor, which was brought to our table.

I started my meal with a few rounds of the savoury items before moving on to the desserts. Both my wife and I have a rather limited appetite, so we had to be extremely economical over the amount of food we took of each item. Even then, I wasn't able to try every item. And I wasn't the type to waste food, so I took only what I could expect myself to finish. Nevertheless, I enjoyed every item that I took.

It was such a lovely meal, not only for the food but also for the company. I had the opportunity to meet up with Ms Michelle Koay, the Director of Sales & Marketing for the first time. I have heard of her, but this was the first time we had a conversation, so I was pretty glad to know her. I am also delighted to meet up with Ms Jeyaranjenee, who has just taken up the position of Assistant Communications Manager.

If you are planning to enjoy a Christmas buffet this year, do take a look at what Cititel Penang has to offer in the photographs below. We were so thankful to the hotel for the opportunity to enjoy all the delicious food.

About this website

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.

While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
