Lexis Suites Penang is holding a Shell Out Buffet Dinner every Saturday evening at Roselle Coffee House. A shell out is a dinner where the items - primarily seafood and some vegetables - are cooked and then put in a pail, from where it is off loaded to the table. The table itself is covered with a piece of paper, and to pick the food straight from the table.

My wife and I were privileged to enjoy the Shell Out Buffet Dinner during our stay at Lexis on Saturday, 9 September, 2017. We were warmly received by Mr Eric Cheng, the F&B Manager of Roselle Coffee House. Mr Suffian Phoong, the Director of Operations, also came over to ensure that we have a good visit with them.

Lexis Suites Penang has turned this into a buffet, meaning diners are free to choose the seafood item they want to consume, select them and give them to the kitchen. Diners choose from a selection of sauces including garlic, creamy cheese and spiced Szechuan, among others. The cooked seafood is then brought back to your table and shelled out in front of you. The difference at Lexis Suites Penang is that, this being a buffet, you can place as many orders as you wish, as long as you are still hungry!

It was both delicious and a lot of fun for us at the Shell Out Buffet Dinner. Oh yes, it's not just the seafood that is delicious, I loved the brownie on the pastry table. So much so that I returned to it again and again. And we were so full at the end, but completely satisfied.

Priced at just RM68nett per adult and RM40 nett per child/senior citizen, we felt that this is an absolutely good deal. No wonder there is so many people at this buffet.
