R&R Bagan Ajam (11 December 2017)
R&R Bagan Ajam (GPS: 5.43411, 100.37684) is the only rest stop on the
Butterworth Outer Ring Road. Located by the seaside at
Pantai Bersih, it offers stupendous views of
Penang Island, and is one of the best places for island watching. The R&R has stalls selling meals and snacks, though at the time of my visit, everything seemed to be closed.
The coastline at R&R Bagan Ajam is sandy, but has be reenforced with rocks to reduce erosion. The shore is relatively clean, because there is a worker picking up the trash. I saw that the surrounding field is littered with trash. I suppose the worker hasn't gotten to it yet. Unfortunately, it is also a sad reflection of the low civic-mindedness of the people using this rest stop.
