Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (GPS: 5.35163, 100.30409), also known as
JPJ and formerly as the Road Transport Department, is the government body for the registration and licensing of motor vehicles. This is the department for registering of vehicles and road tax, as well as issuing and renewal of driving licenses. If you are
getting a driving license in Penang, this is where you go to take your driving test.
The main office of the Penang State Road Transport Department is located in Seberang Jaya while the Penang Island branch is at Batu Uban.

Getting there
To reach the Penang State Road Transport Department in Seberang Jaya, assuming you are coming from Penang Island, turn off the North-South Expressway at Seberang Jaya Interchange (Exit 163). Do a 3 o'clock turn to head east on the Butterworth-Kulim Expressway, then turn off the expressway to a service road.
To reach the Road Transport Department Batu Uban Branch, assuming you are coming from George Town, from the intersection of
Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah with Jalan Sungai Dua, take Jalan Sungai Dua heading west until junction with Lorong Sungai Dua (across from
Universiti Sains Malaysia). Head south on Lorong Sungai Dua till you reach the second turning to the left, which is Persiaran Sungai Dua. Following Persiaran Sungai Dua heading east until the end of the road, and you will arrive at the Road Transport Department.
