Ruyi Delights is a restaurant of Hakka cuisine at The One Penang Cybercity. The restaurant which opened on 17 June, 2013, offers a selection of Hakka set meals as well as dishes including the Hakka abacus, ruyi noodle, Hakka-style yong tao foo, Hakka-style stewed pork leg, pork chop bun and more.

We tried to come here the other day, but it was closed, so we ended up elsewhere. Tonight however we finally managed to have dinner here. For the two of us, we ordered three items: the Hakka tea rice, the ruyi noodle and the Hakka abacus noodle. The Hakka abacus are roundish rice pasta that look like abacus. My wife had wanted to order the bihun, but as they were out of that item, we settled for the ruyi noodle instead.

We have had Hakka tea rice before. The first time we had it, the tea rice was rather an acquired taste for me, and I do not actually enjoyed it. Today the taste seemed more agreeable to me. However, this is probably because the restaurant has localized the taste to make it more palatable to our Malaysian tastebuds.

The portions were quite small, particularly for the Hakka abacus. Even though we ordered three items, we don't feel really that full. It would be good if the restaurant increases its portion size. I think if we were to order just one item each, it would not be enough for us. Nevertheless we are pleased to have sampled this restaurant's rendition of Hakka dishes and would return when we feel like having Hakka cuisine again.

As mentioned, Ruyi Delights is located at The One. The nearest bus stop is along Jalan Mahsuri, which is served by Rapid Penang bus 302, 303, 304, 305, 307, 308, 309 and 401E.
