San Hai Kong Temple (23 March 2013)
San Hai Kong Temple (GPS: 5.3859, 100.31588) in
Jelutong is one of several temples and shrines dedicated to the worship of the Taoist deity Mazu, or as is known by the local Hokkien community, Ma Chor Poh. It is located at the end of Jalan Bukit Dumbar. The name of the temple translates as "Hill and Sea Temple". It indeed once faced the sea, but due to land reclamation, is now land bound.
At the time I explored the temple, it appears to have been rebuilt and expanded. According to the resident of the neighbouring house, the temple has been built over and expanded a few times already.From the bus stop along Jalan Jelutong (served by
Rapid Penang bus
301,

303 and 401), walk down Jalan Dumbar to reach the temple. The walk takes about 5-10 minutes.
