Sea Pearl Lagoon Cafe (16 December 2012)


Sea Pearl Lagoon Cafe (GPS: 5.46388, 100.30813) is a seafood restaurant by the seaside in Tanjong Tokong, Penang. It takes its name from the adjacent Tua Pek Kong Temple, which is officially known as the Sea Pearl Tua Pek Kong Temple. The restaurant has been operating for a long time, if I'm not wrong, from at least the seventies and perhaps even earlier.

Sea Pearl Lagoon Cafe has a wide range of seafood. My wife and I paid a visit to it on 16 December, 2013. We arrived quite early and was the first customer to be seated, which is all the best, as the restaurant eventually filled up with patrons. As there were only the two of it, our eating capacity is curtailed. So we only ordered the grilled crabs and the satay and the spring rolls. The spring rolls came with two types of dips. To wash them down, we had fresh coconuts.

Getting there

If going there by public transport, take Rapid Penang bus 101, 102 or 103 to Tanjong Tokong. Alight from the bus at the Tanjong Tokong Flats. Across Jalan Tanjong Tokong on the pedestrian bridge, then take the road that leads to the Tua Pek Kong Temple. When you arrive there, you will see Sea Pearl Lagoon Cafe next to it.
