Seashell Park, Farlim, Penang (4 January 2021)
Seashell Park (GPS: 5.3909, 100.28092) is a public park in the
Farlim township of
Ayer Itam, Penang. This otherwise nameless park is bordered by
Jalan Ru 2 and
Jalan Ru 3. It has a playing field, a badminton court and exercise equipment as well as a walking path encircling it. Sculptures of seashell are placed at various locations around the park.
The Seashell Park was originally located in front of
Bayview Georgetown Hotel. The sculptures were relocated here when its original site made way for the creation of the
TPO Friendship Park.
Among the seashells depicted at the Seashell Park include the chambered nautilus shell, the toad shell, the strombus urtelis shell, the true conch and the cone shell, among others.
In around 2013, the sculptures were moved to another public park - now known as the
Jesselton Pocket Park, located beside
Persiaran Kuari, off
Jalan Utama. The park had about a dozen different seashell sculptures depicting various regional shellfish. It was there for a while before being moved again to Farlim.

Updates
26 October, 2013: I learn from an email contact, Mike, that the seashell sculptures have once again been relocated. Three of them (the nautilus, true conch and frog shell) are now residing at an opened space at Jalan Ru 2 in Farlim, while one (the scallop) is on the grounds of SMK Datuk Hj Mohd Nor Ahmad, at Lorong Lembah 3, Gelugor.
