Sekeping Victoria, George Town, Penang (24 November 2012)

Sekeping Victoria brings the artsy feel of a Greenwich Village loft gallery to George Town, Penang. Located along Victoria Street, within the core zone of the George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is one of the boutique establishments of the "Sekeping" brand, which includes Sekeping Serendah, Sekeping Tenggiri and Sekeping Terasek (both in Bangsar), Sekeping Seapark (in Petaling Jaya), and Sekeping Kong Heng (in Ipoh).

Sekeping Housed in a turn of the 20th century shophouse, it provides space for private functions, art exhibitions, corporate events, product launches and the like. Sekeping Victoria also has accommodations in the form of 1-suite and 2-suite rooms which are let out on a per-night basis.

Accommodation at Sekeping Victoria (24 November 2012)

Furnishing at Sekeping Victoria is kept artfully spartan. There is a long table surrounded by wooden stools in the middle of the air well. On the far end near Weld Quay are the rooms. The upper floor has been taken out and redone. Louvre shutters are installed on a row of sliding doors as well as the windows.

Sekeping Victoria stands on reclaimed land that was part of the coast of George Town until the late 19th century, when the ground was stabilized and the shore extended outwards to create Victoria Street, named after the reigning British monarch of that period.

About this website

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.

While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
