Sekolah Kebangsaan Tan Sri P. Ramlee (GPS: 5.41118, 100.32796) is a national primary school in
George Town, Penang. It is located on
Jalan Timah, at the junction with
Brick Kiln Road.
Sekolah Kebangsaan Tan Sri P. Ramlee was originally known as Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Jawa. Its original site was in Kampung Jawa, off
Dato Kramat Road. It was established in 1887, making it one of the oldest schools in Penang. Since its founding, the school had relocated twice. The first time was to make way for the construction of the Dato Kramat Smelting (on the site presently occupied by
Penang Times Square), when it moved to Kajang Road, and again when it moved to Jalan Timah, its present location.
The school was renamed after the late entertainer
Tan Sri P. Ramlee for he had attended pre-school there. A scholarship was also established in P. Ramlee's name for pupils of the school who are keen to pursue their studies in music.
