Rapid Penang Bus 102 is ideal for Sightseeing the Southern and Northern parts of Penang Island. The route starts in the Penang International Airport and ends in Teluk Bahang, on the north-western tip of the island. Along the way, Route 102 passes through the famous beaches of Batu Ferringhi and Tanjung Bungah. This route does not go into the Inner City of George Town and is ideal for people staying in the beach hotels who arrive at the airport.
If you are just arriving at the airport, this is the scenery you can expect to see on your bus ride to your hotel.

Rapid Penang Route 102 Sightseeing Itinerary
Your sightseeing tour with the Rapid Penang 102 starts at curbside of the Penang International Airport. The bus leaves the airport terminal and heads out of the airport. It passes under the Bayan Lepas Flyover, then takes the ramp onto the flyover. Now it goes along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, the main road on the southern part of Penang Island. The airport is now on your right.
After a short distance, the bus pass through the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone. You can see factories on both sides of the road. After after and in front of B.Braun is the world-famous Snake Temple, on your left. Get off the bus if you wish to visit it.
The bus passes through the junction of Jalan Tengah. On the left is the township of Bayan Baru, while on the right is Phase III of the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone.
The first junction is at Chulia Street Ghaut (Gat Lebuh Chulia). The bus turns right and go up Chulia Street Ghaut. Along the way, look out for Yeoh Kongsi, a small clan temple, on your right.
The Bayan Lepas Elevated Highway ends at the Pesta Site. The bus continues along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah. To your right are the 30-storey condominiums called N-Park. They stand on a hillock called Batu Uban, which has one of the oldest Malay settlements on Penang Island.
After the traffic lights at Jalan Sungai Dua, you can see Universiti Sains Malaysia on your left, and the twin towers of The View condominiums to your right. The bus passed under the flyover that connects to the Penang Bridge interchange.
After the Hamilton Road Flyover, look out for Penang Free School on your right, followed by the Penang State Mosque on your left, at the Scotland Road Flyover.
After the Scotland Road Flyover, watch out for the Ramakrishna Ashrama on your right. The bus goes through the Batu Gantong junction. Following that, you can see the Penang Turf Club on your left.
As the bus goes along Western Road, see the Penang Sports Club on the right. It now passes through the leafy neighbourhoods of Jesselton Heights on the left and Ayer Rajah on the right.
After passing through the junction with Burmah Road, the bus turns enters Jalan Bagan Jermal. On your right is the St Nicholas Home for the Blind. Jalan Bagan Jermal ends at the junction with Jalan Kelawei and Jalan Tanjong Tokong. There are high rise condominiums on both sides of the junction.
The bus turns left and enters Jalan Tanjong Tokong. The road is lined with upmarket condominiums. You can see Island Plaza shopping mall on your right. The bus now continues its journey along the northern coast. It passes through the Tanjong Tokong village, which has the oldest Tua Pek Kong temple in Penang. Now it enters Tanjung Bungah.
High rise luxury condominiums line Jalan Tanjung Bungah, some as tall as forty storeys. The bus passes the Penang Swimming Club on your right. As it nears Batu Ferringhi, look for the Tanjung Bungah Floating Mosque (it's not really floating) and the Penang Water Sports Centre on your right.
The sea, which comes and goes, is now in full view on your right. This is the famous Batu Ferringhi coastline. The road winds its way as it skirts the hilly northern coast.
Upon arrival at Batu Ferringhi village, you are greeted with the sight of the mammoth Rasa Sayang Resort, on your right. Hotels and restaurants line both sides of the road. The sea is momentarily out of view, but once we leave the village, it is visible once more.
Now the bus continues westward from Batu Ferringhi to Teluk Bahang. There is fewer coastal development here, and the sea is also quieter. Catch a glimpse of Lovers' Isle. You may wish to get down from the bus to visit the Tropical Spice Garden, located on the left side of the road.
The bus circles the roundabout at Teluk Bahang village, and stops at the makeshift terminus beside the road just outside the village. This is the end of the journey. You can now ride the bus back to town. It follows more or less the same route, with only minor variations.
