Rapid Penang Bus 104 is ideal for Sightseeing the northern coast of Penang Island. The route starts in the heart of George Town and ends in Tanjung Bungah, on the northern part of the island. Along the way, Route 104 passes through the Pulau Tikus neighbourhood and the famous beaches of Tanjung Bungah. It differs slightly from Route 103 in that it enters Fettes Park at Tanjong Tokong. The bus passes through some of the beach hotels in Tanjung Bungah, but does not go all the way to Batu Ferringhi.
At the end of Chulia Street, the bus turns left to Penang Road (Jalan Penang). This is the main shopping street in the 1970's. See the Sri Kunj Bihari Temple on the right. Look out for Central Police Headquarters complex to your right. If you want to taste the best cendol in Penang, get off the bus here, and walk up to Keng Kwee Street.
The bus turns right at Magazine Circus (which is not a roundabout anymore) and enters Penang Road again. Look to your left for Ong Kongsi, another clan temple.
The bus next turns left to Burmah Road. Now it goes along Burmah Road. Watch out of Kuan Yin See, the temple busiest during the Nine Emperor Gods Festival, on your right.
The bus turns right to enter Perak Road. Look to your left to see Wat Buppharam, one of the big Thai Buddhist temples in Penang. It then turns left and re-enters Burmah Road, continuing westward. Now the bus is approaching Pulau Tikus district, home to the famous Wat Chaiyamangkalaram, Temple of the Reclining Buddha. You will have to get down from the bus to visit this temple. It is a short distance from the Pulau Tikus bus stop.
At the end of Burmah Road, the bus turns right and enters Jalan Bagan Jermal. On your right is the St Nicholas Home for the Blind. Jalan Bagan Jermal ends at the junction with Jalan Kelawei and Jalan Tanjong Tokong. There are high rise condominiums on both sides of the junction.
The bus turns left and enters Jalan Tanjong Tokong. The road is lined with upmarket condominiums. At the Fettes Park junction you can see Island Plaza shopping mall on your right. Here the bus turns left and enters Jalan Fettes. Midway down the road it takes a right to enter Jalan Evergreen.
The bus passes through the Fettes Park housing estate built in the late 1950's. It winds through the small roads of Fettes Park. From Jalan Evergreen, it turns right to Lebuh Fettes 1 and then left to Jalan Bintang, then a right and a left to Jalan Gajah.
The bus emerges at the north end of Jalan Gajah to the junction with Jalan Tanjong Tokong, opposite the Penang Chinese Swimming Club.
High rise luxury condominiums line Jalan Tanjung Bungah, some as tall as forty storeys. The bus passes the Penang Swimming Club on your right. Following that, you see Dalat International School along with a row of beach hotels on your right.
Look to the left to see Geok San Soo Temple. Here the bus turns left to enter the Tanjung Bungah Bus Terminal, where the journey ends. You can follow the bus on its return journey from Tanjung Bungah back to George Town. The route is almost the same, except for some stretches where it takes a different route due to the one-way road system.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
