The
Silver Chariot House (GPS: 5.41624, 100.33959) is a historic garage on
Penang Street in the
Little India of George Town, Penang.
The Silver Chariot House is located across from the
Chettiar Kattangi. Its sole purpose is to house the Silver Chariot used to convey the Hindu deity Murugan from Koil Vidhu in Penang Street to the
Nattukkottai Chettiar Temple in Jalan Kebun Bunga during Thaipusam.

What to see
For much of the year, the garage is shut. All you can see it the massive door that is two-storeys tall, with the knowledge that behind that door lies a fabulous chariot. However, if you are really lucky, you will find the door opened on specifics dates, such as during the annual George Town Festival.
Getting there
From the
Weld Quay Ferry & Bus Terminal, cross Weld Quay using the pedestrian bridge, and then turn left, walk along Weld Quay until you reach the junction of
Chulia Street Ghaut. Turn right into Chulia Street Ghaut, walk straight, past the junctions of
Victoria Street and Beach Street. Chulia Street Ghaut changes into Chulia Street after the junction of Beach Street. At the junction of
Penang Street, turn right. The Silver Chariot House is on the right side of Penang Street.
