Anson Road is a major road in
Downtown Core, Singapore. It begins at the junction with Scotts Green Road at the Tanjong Pagar Terminal of the Singapore Harbour, and runs parallel to
Shenton Way, to end at the intersection with
Maxwell Road, from where it continues as
Robinson Road. For much of the way,
Anson Road is a four-lane one-way street in the northeast direction.
Anson Road is located in Singapore Postal
District 02.
Anson Road was named after Major General Archibald Anson, who served as
Acting Governor of the Straits Settlements, during the interim period between governors in 1877. Anson Road in Penang was also named after him.
