Armenian Street, Singapore (30 July 2017)
Armenian Street is a minor road in downtown Singapore. It connects with
Stamford Road, at the junction of Fort Canning Link, on the north side, and with the junction of
Canning Rise and
Coleman Street on the south. As would be expected, Armenian Street got its name from Armenian Church. The road was known in Hokkien as Seng Poh
Sin3 Chu3 Au33 , which means the rear of Seng Poh's house.
Updates on Armenian Street
A section of Armenian Street that previously connected to Canning Rise was pedestrianised in 2019. At the same time, the section from Loke Yew Street to Stamford Road was also pedestrianised and celebrated as the First Botanic Garden @ Armenian Street.
