Bank of China Building, Singapore (28 July 2017)
Bank of China Building (GPS: 1.28562, 103.85228) is a bank building in the Central Business District of Singapore. It comprises the original building erected in 1954, and a new block completed in the year 2000. The two high-rise buildings are located at the same site at 4 Battery Road.
The original building of the Bank of China is 18 storeys tall. In front of the Art Deco style building is a pair of guardian lions designed by Rudolfo Nolli. At the time of its completion, the Bank of China Building was the tallest skyscraper in the neighbourhood. It was only surpassed in 1974, by the UOB Building, now called UOB Plaza Two.
The new block of the Bank of China, completed in 2000, has 36 floors and stands at a height of 168 m (551 ft). It was designed by P&T Architects Engineering Ltd of Hong Kong. A common podium connects the two skyscrapers.
Visiting the Bank of China Building
Take the East-West Line or North-South Line of the Singapore MRT to the Raffles Place MRT Station (EW14/NS26) and walk a short distance from there.
