Bishan, Singapore (29 July 2017)
Bishan (GPS: 1.35077, 103.84818) is a district (or "planning area" in local nomenclature) in Central
Singapore. It comprises mainly high-rise housing estates. Bishan was named after the Cantonese cemetery known as Peck San Theng, or "Pavilions on the Green". The name is a transliteration of Peck San into pinyin,
bì-shán.
Bishan is located in Singapore Postal
District 20.
Bishan is bordered by
Ang Mo Kio in the north,
Serangoon in the east,
Toa Payoh in the south, and the Central Water Catchment in the west.
The planning area of Bishan comprises three neighbourhoods (or "subzones") namely Bishan East, Marymount and Upper Thomson.

Getting there
Bishan is served by the
Central Expressway. Commuters can also take the
Singapore MRT at the
Bishan MRT Station (NS17/CC15), which is served by the
North-South Line (NS17) and
Circle Line (CC15). Adjacent to it is the Bishan Bus Interchange, served by SBS Transit buses.
