Bukit Timah Nature Reserve (GPS: 1.34839, 103.77746) is a protected forest area in the heart of Singapore. It is not located in the Bukit Timah Planning Area, but rather the Bukit Panjang Planning Area. This is one of the few remainder of virgin vegetation in Singapore, undisturbed by forest clearing and development.
The Bukit Timah Nature Reserve covers an area of 400 acres. It is the largest patch of primary rainforest in Singapore. The reserve is near the geographic centre of Singapore, and includes the slopes of Bukit Timah, the tallest hill on the island.
Together with the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, the forested area covers 3,043 hectares and includes the areas of the MacRitchie Reservoir, Lower Peirce Reservoir, Upper Peirce Reservoir and Upper Seletar Reservoir. Of these, 163 hectares are some of the oldest intact rainforest in Singapore.
Adjacent to the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is the Hindhede Nature Park, developed from an abandoned quarrry.
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
