Chek Jawa is a cape on the southeastern tip of
Pulau Ubin. Also called Tanjong Chek Jawa, it is a protected wetlands area covering 100 hectares. Studies conducted by conservationists led to improved appreciation of the biodiversity of the area. This in turn helped to keep Chek Jawa from development projects, at least, until 2012, when the deferment of development expires.
