Clemenceau Bridge (GPS: 1.29073, 103.84237) is a vehicle bridge across the
Singapore River. It carries
Clemenceau Avenue across the river, while underneath it, the
Central Expressway crosses the river as a tunnel.
Clemenceau Bridge separates
Clarke Quay to the east from
Robertson Quay to the west. The bridge itself is built of concrete and is without any particular ornamentation. As with Clemenceau Avenue itself, the bridge was named in honor of French Premier Georges Clemenceau who visited in the 1920's. At the time of its construction, Singapore River was a hive of boat and harbour activities. The bridge provided a crossing for the upper part of the Singapore River.
