Coleman Street, Singapore (28 July 2017)
Coleman Street is one of the streets in downtown Singapore. It starts at
Canning Rise, just ahead of the intersection with
Hill Street and
Armenian Street, and ends at the junction with
St Andrew's Road. In between it intersects with
North Bridge Road and forms junctions with Colombo Court and Coleman Lane.
Coleman Street was named after George Drumgold Coleman (1795-1844), the famous 19th century architect who designed many of the buildings in Singapore. Born in Ireland, he was reponsible in drafting the layout of the 1822 Jackson Plan of Singapore for Stamford Raffles. He had his home on 3 Coleman Street.
