Dining Place by Chef Heman at Mandarin Gallery (27 July 2017)
Dining Place By Chef Heman (GPS: 1.30188, 103.83637) is an upscale Chinese restaurant in
Mandarin Gallery, Singapore. The restaurant, which had its grand opening on 2 August, 2017, is on the fourth floor of the mall. I had the opportunity to dine there, for a pre-launch lunch on 27 July, when my blogger friend Tony Boey invited me to join him and his foodie gang to a lunch here. The restaurant had invited them, and since I was in Singapore, he invited me to join in. In the process, I got to know some of his friends, which were all such a delight.
As the name suggests, this restaurant is managed by Chef Heman, who is a celebrity chef in Singapore. He has appeared on television, and is said to run a couple of restaurants in the island nation. In addition to being a chef, he is also renowned for his sculptures.
The lunch that afternoon was exquisite. The starter was Royal Eight Treasures, which comes in a tray of six different items, and a separate platter with another two. This is followed by the Signature Crispy Roasted Pork, which is served with lychee pearls. The next dish was the Signature Dining Place's Roasted Duck, which is taken with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and tiny
hors d'œuvre. Next came Chef Heman's Garden of Escargot. This was followed, in rapid succession, with a parade of other dishes, including the Beauty Collagen Soup with Crab Meat Ravioli, Grilled Wagyu Ribeye Steak, Sancai Sweet & Sour Lychee Pork, Duo of HK Kailan with Dry Scallop and Sliced Abalone, Chef Heman's Crispy Scales Coral Cod Fish with Hot Bean Sauce and Chef Heman's Black Berry Bamboo Cup Rice. And that's just the main dishes.

We were entertained by Chef Heman himself, to shared with us his various creations. After our meal, he even showed us some of the sculptures that he has made. Even the tableware used in the restaurant were based on his own design.
