East Coast Road (ECR)) is a major road in Singapore that runs along the southeastern coast of the island. Stretching over 35 km, ECR connects the central business district with the eastern suburbs of the city-state. It is a busy thoroughfare that is often used by motorists and tourists alike, as it offers scenic views of the coast, parks, and beaches.

The ECR starts at the eastern end of Mountbatten Road, after Katong Shopping Centre and before The Odeon Katong, and extends all the way to Siglap, where it continues as Upper East Coast Road. Along the way, it passes through several popular tourist destinations such as East Coast Park, Katong, Marine Parade, and Bedok. East Coast Park, for example, is a popular recreational area that offers a variety of activities, such as cycling, rollerblading, and beach volleyball. The park is also home to many food and drink outlets, as well as several seafood restaurants that serve some of the best seafood in Singapore.

ECR is also known for its colonial-era architecture, which adds to its charm and uniqueness. Many of the shophouses and colonial-style buildings along the road have been restored and repurposed, providing visitors with a glimpse into the city's rich history. The Katong area, for example, is renowned for its Peranakan heritage, and visitors can explore the area's many heritage sites, such as the Katong Antique House, Peranakan Museum, and Joo Chiat Heritage Trail.

One of the most popular destinations along ECR is Marine Parade. This area is known for its luxurious properties, beaches, and parks. It is a popular spot for families and tourists, who flock here to relax, sunbathe, and enjoy the picturesque views of the sea. The Marine Parade Community Club is also located here, offering a range of recreational activities for visitors of all ages.

ECR is also home to several popular shopping destinations, such as 112 Katong, Katong V, and Parkway Parade. These malls offer a range of shopping and dining options, including fashion boutiques, electronics stores, and international restaurants.

As a major road in Singapore, ECR is well-connected to the rest of the island. The road is served by several bus services, as well as taxi and private hire services. For those travelling by car, ECR is easily accessible from the major expressways in the city, such as the East Coast Parkway, the Pan Island Expressway, and the Central Expressway.

In conclusion, East Coast Road is a popular and vibrant road in Singapore, offering a unique blend of scenic views, history, shopping, and recreational activities. Whether you're a resident, visitor, or tourist, ECR is a must-visit destination in Singapore, offering something for everyone. With its beautiful parks, beaches, and cultural sites, ECR is a true gem of the city-state, and a testament to its rich and diverse heritage.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
