Gemmill Lane, Singapore (8 July 2011)
Gemmill Lane (Chinese: 仁美巷, Pinyin: Rénměi Xiàng
) is a small lane in downtown
Singapore. It connects
Club Street to
Amoy Street with only one-way traffic, from the former to the latter. The lane gets narrower as you go, until eventually the lane is wide enough for a single vehicle to pass through.
Gemmill Lane was named after John Gemmill, who was a merchant and auctioneer, and obviously a man of considerable wealth, to have the lane named after him.
