Kebun Baru Food Centre (GPS: 1.36718, 103.84002) is a hawker centre in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore. It was completed in 1976, at a time when the Ang Mo Kio township was being developed, with the oldest residential blocks having been completed just a year before. It was of course a very different Singapore back then, or rather, it was a Singapore in transition, with places like Ang Mo Kio being transformed from one that is rural into one that is urban, albeit of largely unadorned blocks of flats.
The Kebun Baru Food Centre is located beside Ang Mo Kio Street 22. It is Block 226H, part of the Kebun Baru Mall, which comprises various components of Block 226. This is where the locals of Ang Mo Kio congregate for their groceries as well as hawker fare.
Thanks to my friend Evonne, I had the opportunity of visiting the Kebun Baru Food Centre. We first took the MRT to the Ang Mo Kio MRT Station (NS16), then took bus 262 to Bus Stop 54629 along Ang Mo Kio Ave 1, next to the Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park. We crossed the road, walked past the Kim Eang Tong Temple, past the Kebun Baru Market, and arrived at the food centre. I remember being impressed by its size. Not only was it big, it was also very crowded, with lots of people converging there for their breakfast.

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
