Kramat Road, Singapore (1 August 2017)
Kramat Road is a minor road in the
Orchard area of
Singapore. It runs roughly parallel to
Orchard Road, between
Buyong Road and
Cavenagh Road, which it also intersects. Kramat Road also forms a fork with Koek Road.
Kramat Road was named after the keramat, or Muslim graves and shrines, which were located in the cemetery near the Istana, then known as the Colonial Secretary's House. That cemetery gave the name to New Cemetery Road, which was subsequently renamed Cavenagh Road.
