La Salle College of the Arts (GPS: 1.30293, 103.85168) is an educational institution in downtown Singapore. It is located off
Bencoolen Street, bounded by
Short Street, McNally Street and
Albert Street. The college was founded by Brother Joseph McNally in 1984 with the purpose of providing arts education in the field of fine art, design, media and performing arts.
The campus of La Salle College of the Arts has three performing arts theatres, including the Singapore Airlines Theatre. It also has 1,500 sq m of exhibition and gallery spaces for the staging of art exhibits. The futuristic building includes a spacious seven-storey atrium.
The Singapore Airlines Theatre, also called the Main Theatre, has a seating capacity of 500 people. It stages major public performances. The stage has an orchestra pit that can accommodate up to 35 musicians.
The McNally Gallery showcases artworks by the college's late founder, Brother Joseph McNally. There are eighteen works of art exhibited here, showcasing the scope of McNally's works.
Getting there
The La Salle College of the Arts is about midway between the
Little India MRT Station (NE7) and the
Bugis MRT Station (EW12).
