Marina Bay MRT Station (27 July 2017)
Marina Bay MRT Station (GPS: 1.27613, 103.85461; NS27/CE2) is an underground station of the
Singapore MRT. It is located on reclaimed land. Presently, it is not within immediate proximity to any surrounding developments, as the Marina Bay neighbourhood is actually a distance away. Nonetheless, the Marina Bay MRT Station was sited for the future development of the area, which will form the New Downtown, an expansion to Singapore's existing
Central Business District.
The Marina Bay MRT Station is an interchange for the
North-South Line and
Circle Line. On the North-South Line, it is between the
Raffles Place MRT Station (NS26) and the
Marina South Pier MRT Station (NS28) under construction. On the Circle Line, it is the terminus after the
Bayfront MRT Station (CE1). From 2021, the
Thomson-East Coast Line will also pass through this station between the
Shenton Way MRT Station and
Marina South MRT Station.
The Marine Bay MRT Station began operations on 4 November, 1989. It is the terminus station for the line. The station immediately before it is the Raffles Place MRT Station. An extension of the North-South Line is presently under construction, and eventually, the new terminus station will be the subsequent one, the Marina Pier MRT Station.
Renumbering
From 2026, the Marina Bay MRT Station will be renumbered from
CE2/NS27/TE20 to
CC33/NS27/TE20 with the Stage 6 extension from HarbourFront MRT Station is completed.
