Orchard Central (GPS: 1.3007, 103.83963) is a shopping mall on Orchard Road. It is at the junction with Killiney Road. Developed by Far East Organization at a cost of S$650 million, it was opened in 2009 to replace the Specialists Shopping Centre. Orchard Central has a total retail floor area of 387,988 sq ft. There are 12 shopping floors and 2 basement levels.
Orchard Central is touted as the first vertical shopping mall in Singapore. What this means is that the outlets are stacked vertically and are accessed through escalators. There are a total of 52 escalators at the mall, including six so-called super escalators, including the pair that transport shoppers from the main entrance directly to the fourth level. In addition, there are 12 glass elevators.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
