Oriental Plaza is a three-storey shopping arcade along New Bridge Road in Chinatown. It is located at the junction with Kreta Ayer Road. The arcade provides some outlets for retail and commercial activities on the southern part of Chinatown.
The site of Oriental Plaza was a theatre called Palacegay. During the Japanese Occupation, it was known as Toho Gekizyo.1. Talkies in Chinese were first screened here from 1927. After the Second World War, it was acquited by Shaw Brothers and renamed Oriental Theatre in 1946.
Getting there
Take the North East Line of the Singapore MRT to the Chinatown MRT Station and walk a short distance south from there.
