Penhas Road Singapore (Jun 2024)
Penhas Road is a minor road in the
Kallang planning area of
Singapore. It connects
Horne Road to
Lavender Street. The road was named after Rahamin Penhas (who died in 1946), a wealthy Jewish merchant with Iraqi roots, who developed three shophouses along Lavender Street. This stretch of road was originally also part of
French Road, but was renamed in 1929 in his honour, based on a promise made by R.J. Farrer, who was then the President of the Municipality, to Penhas.
