Pulau Jong (GPS: 1.2151, 103.78638) is an islet among the Southern Islands of Singapore. It is located in the middle with
Pulau Anak Bukom to the northwest, Pulau Sebarok to the southeast and
Pulau Sakeng to the southwest.
The name Pulau Jong means "junk island". According to local lore, a Chinese junk was once attacked by Malay pirates off the island. Just as the pirates were about to take possession of the ship, the captain uttered a thunderous cry, calling up the sea spirits which turned the junk into an island.
