Republic Plaza (GPS: 1.28291, 103.85102) is a skyscraper in Raffles Place, Singapore. It is within the Downtown Core. Completed in 1995 at a height of 280 meters (919 feet) it shares the title of being one of the three tallest buildings in Singapore with OUB Centre and UOB Plaza. Republic Plaza has 66 storeys above ground and 1 basement. It is developed and owned by City Developments Limited, an international property and hotel conglomerate. Although it is bordered by D'Almeida Street and Collyer Quay, it has its address on Raffles Place.
Republic Plaza occupies the city block along Cecil Street, with its main entrance at D'Almeida Street. It was designed by Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa. The tower tapers as it rises, allowing it to withstand strong winds and helps improve on wind loading. To afford sea views for the upper floors, its face is turned 45 degrees as it reaches the upper floors.
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
