Shaw House (GPS: 1.30568, 103.83168) is a shopping mall and cinema complex on the Orchard Road Shopping Belt. Located at the junction of Orchard Road and Scotts Road, it comprises a five storey shopping podium and two high rise blocks. Shaw House sits on the site of the former Lido Cinema, which opened in 1958. The cinema made way for the five storey Shaw House in the late 1980's. After a few years of construction, it reopened as Shaw House in 1993. It houses Isetan as the anchor tenant. Other tenants include fast-food outlets McDonald's and MOS Burger. The Lido Cinema is reincarnated as the Lido 8 Cineplex, located on Levels 5 and 6.

Adjacent to the shopping podium, on Scotts Road, is the high-rise block known as Shaw Centre. It comprises 8 levels of parking and office tower totalling 21 storeys. On the Orchard Road side of Shaw House is another high-rise block which is 28 storeys tall. It houses Les Amis, an upscale restaurant.

About this website

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.

While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.

To get to know me better, do follow me on Facebook!
