Shaw Tower (GPS: 1.29668, 103.85683) is an office building in downtown Singapore. The original Shaw Tower was completed in 1975, and was located on Hoi How Road, which is today expunged. The office block at Shaw Tower, built in the Brutalist architectural style, stands 134 meters (440 feet) and has 35 floors. There was a multi-storey car park occupying levels 3 to 11.
Within the Show Tower complex are two cinemas, Prince facing
Beach Road and Jade in the direction of
Nicoll Highway. At the time of their opening in 1975, Prince had the largest cinema hall in Singapore. Between 1996 and 2001, the two cinemas were bought by United Artists, but returned to Shaw Theatres n 2001, when Shaw bought back United Artists' operations in Singapore.
Shaw Tower closed for redevelopment in 2018, and all the tenants were given notice to move out. However, the redevelopment was delayed by Covid-19. A new 35-storey Shaw Tower will be built in the place of the former one. It will offer 400,000 sqft of Grade A office space and 30,000 sqft of retail space.
