Singapore Flyer (GPS: 1.28936, 103.86319) is a giant observation wheel located at Marina Bay, Singapore. The wheel was completed and first rotated from on the evening of Monday, 11 February, 2008, equivalent to 12:30pm GMT. Singapore Flyer is 165 meters high - equivalent to a 42 story building, making it the tallest observation wheel in the world until 31 March, 2014, when it was surpassed by the 167.6m (550ft) High Roller on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada.

The Singapore Flyer comprises a 150-meter high wheel over a three-story building. The wheel consists of 28 air conditioned capsules that each can accommodate 28 passengers. The wheel takes 30 minutes to make one complete rotation. Singapore Flyer is taller than The Star of Nanchang observation wheel in China by 5 meters, and the London Eye by 30 meters.

Tickets for rides on the Singapore Flyer for the first three days were sold out, despite a whopping price of S$8,888 per piece. The regular tickets, called Singapore Flight, are sold at S$29.50 (adults), S$20.65 (children) and S$23.60 (senior citizen). There is also Express Boarding and Signature Cocktail Flight tickets, which are more expensive. One can also book an entire capsule for S$1000 off-peak hours and S$1500 during peak hours and weekends, excluding another S$500 minimum for food and beverage. Singapore Flyer is located within walking distance of the Esplanade, Theatres on the Bay and the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort casino, to be open in late 2009.

Getting there

Take the Singapore MRT to the Promenade MRT Station (CC4) on the Circle Line. From there, the Singapore Flyer is just a 5-minute walk away. Take Exit A at the station and follow the blue pedestrian sign.
