Tampines MRT Station 
(GPS: 1.3531, 103.94523; pronounce: tɛm-pə-nis; EW2/DT32) is a mass rapid transit station of the Singapore MRT. Originally built for the
East-West Line, the station began operations on 16 December, 1989. It is between the
Pasir Ris MRT Station (EW1) and
Simei MRT Station (EW3). The station has an island platform with tracks on either sides.
Tampines is located in Singapore Postal
District 18.
The station became an interchange station when the underground
Downtown Line passes through it. Operations of the Downtown Line commenced at Tampines MRT Station on 21 October 2017. On the Downtown Line, the Tampines MRT Station is between the
Tampines West MRT Station and
Tampines East MRT Station. With the opening of this line, passengers can ride to the
MacPherson MRT Station,
Bedok Reservoir MRT Station and
Expo MRT Station without having to take the train to the
Tanah Merah MRT Station.
