The Fullerton Waterboat House (GPS: 1.2871, 103.85352) is a historic building in downtown Singapore. It is located at Fullerton Road, between the Anderson Bridge on one side and Esplanade Bridge on the other. Today it serves as a harbourfront food & beverage centre housing two restaurants. 1919 Restaurant on Level 2 offers fine dining while The Rooftop is a casual place to enjoy the city sights. A Starbucks outlet operated on the ground floor, manned by staff from Autism Resource Centre, from 2014 until 2 February 2020, when its lease expired.
The Fullerton Waterboat House was originally called the Water House. That is because its purpose is to supply fresh water to ships in the Singapore Harbour. It was designed by the architectural firm of Swan & Maclaren in the Art Deco style, and was completed in 1919 (hence the name of the 1919 Restaurant). The Water House played its role in supplying ships with water until 1990, by which time its administration had been taken over by the Port of Singapore Authority.
Regarded as a heritage building, the Water House was gazetted for conservation in 2002. The Urban Redevelopment Authority opened it for tender, which was won by the Sino Group, which renovated the building. It opened in its present form, as The Fullerton Waterboat House.

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
