The Helix Bridge, Singapore (7 July 2011)
The Helix Bridge (GPS: 1.28692, 103.86052) is a pedestrian bridge across
Marina Bay. It links Marina Centre with Marina South, and was officially opened on 24 April, 2010. At that time, only half the bridge was opened as the section towards
Marina Bay Sands was not yet completed. The entire bridge was only opened on 18 July, 2010.
The Helix Bridge is 280 meters long. It was designed by an international team comprising ARUP Pte Ltd (designer) and COX Group Ptd Ltd of Australia and Architects 61 of Singapore (both the architects), and constructed by Sato Kogyo Ptd Ltd and TTJ Design and Engineering Ptd Ltd. It won the "World's Best Transport Building" award at the World Architecture Festival Awards 2010.
The Helix Bridge runs beside the
Benjamin Sheares Bridge and is alongside the
Bayfront Bridge, which is used by vehicles.
How to go to The Helix Bridge
Take the Circle Line to the Promenade MRT Station and walk along Temasek Avenue until you reach the bridge.
