Upper Circular Road is a minor road in downtown Singapore. It connects South Bridge Road to New Bridge Road, about 70 meters south of the Singapore River. The road was known in Hokkien as 馬車街 (Taiji Romanisation: Bae1 Chia3 Kay1 , Church Romanisation: bée-chhia-ke, Taiwanese Romanisation: bée-tshia-ke), meaning "carriage street", owing to the presence of stables and coach builders in the area. It had an enclave of Teochews living here, a fact that has long been expunged.

Upper Circular Road continues from Circular Road, though the two roads do not actually meet - the present incarnation of the two anyway.
