VivoCity (8 July, 2017)
VivoCity (GPS: 1.26463, 103.82232) is a shopping mall in Singapore. It is located at Harbourfront Walk off
Telok Blangah Road, within the Maritime Square subzone of
Bukit Merah planning area. It has its soft opening on 7 October, 2006, and was official opened on 1 December 2006. VivaCity occupies the former site of the exhibition halls of the World Trade Centre, which is now renamed the
HarbourFront Centre.
VivoCity has a gross area of 1,500,000 square feet (139,000 sq meters), of which 1,100,000 square feet (102,000 sq meters) is given to retail space, making it bigger than
Suntec City Mall and
Ngee Ann City, but smaller than
Bangkok's CentralWorld Plaza. VivoCity was designed by Japanese architect Toyo Ito, and built at a cost of S$417 million.
Since its opening, VivoCity has become the official venue for the live televised New Year countdown. So far, the countdown concerts have been held at the rooftop amphitheatre on 31 December 2006 and 31 December 2007 for the 2007 and 2008 celebrations respectively.
VivoCity has Singapore's largest cineplex, with 15 screens, operated by
Golden Village. It includes one of the largest cinema screens in Southeast Asia. Anchor tenants include
Toys "R" Us and retail giant Dairy Farm, which operates
Cold Storage,
Shop N Save,
Giant Hypermarket,
7-Eleven and
Dairy Farm.
VivoMart is a hypermart with a gourmet food section. There is also the Giant Hypermarket on basement two and level one. Cold Storage operates
Naturally Marketplace on level one as well as
Guardian Pharmacy. There are two huge food courts at VivoCity, one by the
Kopitiam Group and another, the
Food Republic, by the BreadTalk Group.

How to reach VivoCity by MRT
Take either the
North East Line or
Circle Line to the
HarbourFront MRT Station. There is a linkway to VivoCity basement 2 from there.
Sentosa Express Monorail Station
On the third level of VivoCity, just above the HarbourFront MRT Station, is the Sentosa Monorail Station. This is the mainland station of the
Sentosa Express, the monorail line that takes you to presently three different locations on Sentosa Island. The fare is S$4.00 (as of Dec 2019) which can be paid by cash, credit card or EZ-Link Card, allowing you unlimited rides on the Sentosa Express and entry to Sentosa Island.
