Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee, Old Airport Road Food Centre, Singapore (27 July, 2017)
Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee 新美香卤面 (GPS: 1.30824, 103.88582) is a lor mee stall at Old Airport Road Food Centre in Singapore. It is a very famous lor mee stall in Singapore. When I came to Singapore, my friend Stanley decided that we should meet up and have lunch here, but he warned me in advance that the wait can be as much as an hour.
Sure enough, when we arrived at the stall at 11:35am, there was already a queue. Stanley ordered the S$4 bowl. He had wanted to order the S$6 bowl with added ingredients, but the hawker told him she couldn't sell the S$6 bowl on that day, because she didn't have enough ingredients. So, S$4 it is.
While Stanley queued up, I took photographs of the long queue that lined up in front of the stall. It was so long that it had to curved to one side. We arrived at the head of the queue at 12:00 noon. Not one hour later, but 25 minutes.
One look at the lor mee told me that, in terms of ingredients, it is very different from the lor mee I enjoy in Penang. There's no chicken feet here.

So what's my verdict with regards Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee? The taste of the "lor4" 滷 is similar to the lor of my favourite lor mee stall in Penang, so I have no complains there, but for S$4, I found the lor mee lacking in ingredients. Much of it is just noodles, with only a bit of "liau33" 料 . Perhaps I might have changed my opinion if I had the chance to try the S$6 bowl (but that has to wait till I return to Singapore). The taste is not bad, but the amount of ingredients does not justified that long queue.

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
