Sisters Char Koay Teow, Lam Heng Cafe

Sisters Char Koay Teow is a famously over-rated char koay teow stall at Lam Heng Cafe on Macalister Road in George Town, Penang.

The stall was started by two sisters many decades ago. The general consensus nowadays is that the Sisters Char Koay Teow was good, in the Past Tense. (I do remember it when it was good.) I would say that today it is "not bad", but at RM5.00 per plate, it is a little steep. Rumour has it that having made their fortune, the sisters are no longer frying the koay teow with the passion that once had. As such, you may be surprised to see that the coffee shop is not as crowded as it used to be, many years ago. The fact that Lam Heng Cafe charges 50 sen for each person not ordering drinks does not help it endears itself to patrons.
