Sri Aluvang Muneeshwarar Temple, Batu Ferringhi (13 April 2016)
Sri Aluvang Muneeshwarar Temple (GPS: 5.47754, 100.27347) is a small Hindu temple in
Batu Feringghi. Located on the coast, it is reached via a cement staircase going down from the roadside at
Jalan Batu Ferringhi. The temple is said to have been established over a hundred years old. It underwent a consecration ceremony around 2013. When I visited the site in 2016, the temple looked newly painted.
Sri Aluvang Muneeshwarar Temple suffered tremendous erosion damage during the 5 November storm that battered Penang Island for 15 hours. The temple chairman Mr A. Sathasivam said that the storm caused huge cracks at the base. As the damage was extensive, the temple will have to be demolished and rebuilt, as the present structure could collapse in another heavy downpour.
