Dutch Museum, Colombo, Sri Lanka (3 September, 2005)
Dutch Museum (GPS: 6.9361, 79.85158) is a museum housed in a restored Dutch colonial residence that dates back to the 1780s. It is located at Second Cross St & Prince St in Pettah, Colombo. For many years, it was used as a post office, but has now been restored to its original appearance. Within it is a collection of period furniture, household items, maps, and charts showing the history of Dutch colonialism in Sri Lanka.
I wandered into the Dutch Period Museum while Colombo with members of AsiaExplorers. When we arrived, we were not sure whether the museum has opened for the day, so we simply walked inside. Later we learned that we were the first customers, and had we arrived a little later, we would have been charged a fee.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
